The Xiaomi Mi Dual Driver Earphones features an unusual semi in-ear design with an hybrid style in between an in-ear headphone and an earbud – the easiest way to explain it, think of the Apple Airpods. But there is another feature that makes them even more special; inside the housings they hold a dual driver configuration with a sort of Woofer-Twitter drivers, with the last one made of ceramics. Ceramics is a pretty uncommon material used for the construction of drivers.
A Woofer+Twitter is what you usually find in speakers or car audio where they separate the drivers into specialized ones to reproduce different ranges of the audio spectrum more efficiently.
The housings of the Xiaomi Mi Dual Driver Earphones BRE01JY are made of plastic with a narrowing back end that makes them extremely easy to grab and handle. A metal back plate is found on the rear section the housings.
If you are used to in-ear headphones or have never used earbuds you should know that, by design, earbuds are unable to provide the same level of isolation, seal and, consequently, also depth of bass. We will see how they perform later on, but do not be surprised if they lack sub-bass.
The cables of the Xiaomi Mi Dual Driver Earphones BRE01JY are rounded and very rubberized cable. The mini-stereo plug has a L shaped shape and is particularly small, this makes them a good match to use with smartphones as the plug will not protrude much.
